Pre Prep - Ship Rocked
Herod, and Monty Sharp-O’Reilly as Mary (always a
tough role to pull off!).
The help of parents and Pre-Prep teachers must not go
unmentioned, as the costumes were superb. Everyone
had a part to play, from players to extras. Teamwork
at its best!
The detailed backdrop of Bethlehem was drawn and
painted by Mr Dymock, and five Prep 4 boys (Alex
Dungworth, Sam Davison, George Burch, Aonghas
Chapman and Jacob Truelove-Cooke) showed their
potential as cameramen and lighting technicians.
Humour was provided in an unexpected format, when
the lights blacked out and one spotlight shone on a
single boy carrying a sign, which simply read ‘Some
time later...’
A fantastic finale finished off a truly wonderful
performance!
Not to be missed!!
Barclay Brown
Well, shiver me timbers.
Those talented Pre-Prep
boys have done it again!
This year’s summer
play found us ‘Rocking
around the clock’ in
Pre-Prep as Mr Jones
and his band of brilliant
musicians discovered
their inner JoolsHollands
and accompanied us on
a singing and dancing
search for our own
Treasure Island’.
Following the untimely
death of Billy Bones
(
Chrissy
Arcari)
at
the hands of a bunch
of ‘Bad Guys’, in the
Admiral Benbow Tavern,
Jim Hawkins (Matty
Buchanan), Dr Livesy
(
Madoc Hawker) and
Squire Trelawney (Joel
Kennedy) set sail in
search of excitement,
adventure
and
treasure. Unfortunately,
unbeknown to them,
the good ship Jammy
Dodger is captained
by the wicked Long
John Silver (Matthew
Morris) assisted by his
thinly disguised crew of
pirates.
Undeterred by the
fierce warriors and surf-
boarding parrots (yes,
really!) who inhabit the
island, and thwarting Captain
Silver’s crafty attempts to
steal their map, they finally
uncover the buried treasure,
only to realise that they rather
like the idea of living on a
desert island where the sun
always shines, the sky is blue,
and every sort of fruit grows
on the trees. Seeing very little
reason to return to cold, rainy
England, they all live happily
ever after - probably just as
well, as Captain Silver’s crew,
a dastardly bunch of thieving
scoundrels, have stolen their
ship!
Once again, Mrs Fletcher has
produced a masterpiece. All
of the boys danced, sang and
performed exceptionally well
and we are all very proud of
them.
